I <3 Oyin

When I first read about Juices & Berries nourishing herbal leave in on various hair forums I literally thought women were using juices and berries in their hair(lol)! And of course Akeem and letting my "soul glo" were the second thought. It's been about a week since I recieved my order of Oyin Juices & Berries and I have been pleased since day one of using it. My hair has been incredibly soft and manageable! I can say I have yet to have a bad puff day. I use it at night after I do my two strand twist and again in the morning to top off my puff.

This leave in has a pleasant smell and is filled with beneficial ingredients like horsetail, aloe vera juice, nettle, and flaxseeds. The product does take a while to ship because every product is made with love :). I think it took about two weeks to receive but the company was wonderful on follow through and sent me an email once the order was processed and shipped. I have nothing but great things to say about the company and the product is worth every penny! I plan on ordering the sample pack soon(and by soon I mean today, lol)

Get Growing

Thanks to Mother Nature I had a bout with a horrible sinus infection. Having the weekend off and rain washing the pollen away gave me time to recover. While sick I was able to try a tea I had that is actually for hair, skin, and nails.

The tea is very smooth and has a wonderful lemon flavor with a hint of peppermint. It also has herbs that are beneficial in promoting healthy growth. If you're not a hot tea drinker, it is also recommended drinking cold. A container of 36 tea bags will run you $11 and can be found at GNC.
Ingredients
Organic Rooibos (leaf), Peppermint (leaf), Horsetail (aerial parts), Stinging Nettle (aerial parts), Oatstraw, Black Limon.
As I started feeling better over the weekend, I did another henna treatment(I'm hooked) :) I also tried EVOO in the Pantene Nature Fusion shampoo I talked about in a previous post. I now give it a definite thumbs up

Pantene Day

I'm under the dryer doing a deep treatment with Pantene R&N hair mask and thought I' share my review of Pantene's Nature Fusion Moisture Balance shampoo and conditioner. This is a new line from Pantene that contains cassia for strength and shine.  There is also a Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality version and the ingredients are slightly different. I was lucky enough to pick it up at CVS a few weeks ago for $2.99/each. I think they were well worth the money. I do an ACV rinse so I don't worry about build up. Once I'm done with my DT, I'll be doing my first henna treatment. I'll let you know how that goes.
The shampoo
Water , Sodium Laureth Sulfate , Cocamidopropyl Betaine , Sodium Chloride , Cocamide MEA , Cassia Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride , Cassia Tora Seed , Cassia Obtusifolia Seed , Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder , Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract , Ginger Root Extract - Zingiber Officinale , Panthenol , Panthenyl Ethyl Ether , Citric Acid , Corn Starch , Sugar Cane , Dimethiconol , Fragrance , Sodium Benzoate , Disodium EDTA , PEG-7M , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazolinone , Sodium Citrate , Sodium Xylenesulfonate , Yellow 5 , Orange 4
It has a nice lather and doesn't take a lot which means I'll have it for a while. It also has a light pleasant sent. My only con with it is the overly clean feeling you get. I prefer soft and manageable hair even before I condition so the next time I will use EVOO or jojoba oil with it.
The conditioner
Water , Stearyl Alcohol , Palm Oil , Palm Kernel Oil , Coconut Oil , Cyclopentasiloxane , Cetyl Alcohol , Palm Oil , Palm Kernel Oil , Coconut Oil , Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine , Cassia Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride , Cassia Tora Seed , Cassia Obtusifolia Seed , Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder , Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract , Ginger Root Extract - Zingiber Officinale , Panthenol , Panthenyl Ethyl Ether , Citric Acid , Corn Starch , Sugar Cane , Dimethicone , Glutamic Acid , Benzyl , Fragrance , EDTA , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazolinone , Yellow 5 , Orange 4
This is an awesome conditioner! I could see myself using this as a  co-wash or even as a leave-in. The slip is great and again the smell is pleasant. It's an A+ in my book. This line also has a leave in fusion smoothing cream that I haven't yet looked into.

Bentonite clay= WOW factor!

Wednesdays are usually my co-wash days so last night I decided to try a bentonite clay hair mask since I have read so many wonderful reviews on CurlyNikki.com, NC.com, and I even viewed a few YouTube vids on it. Anitagrant.com has very thorough information on the benefits of the clay for face, hair, and body. In relation to the hair, bentonite clay contains trace minerals such as silica and calcium that are a must for strong and healthy hair. It helps remove dirt and oil buildup and detoxify the scalp. I've seen various recipes for this clay treatment but I decided to use the following:
bentonite clay(1/4 cup)
coconut milk(mixed until batter formed)
honey
The clay opened
-I saturated my hair and applied the clay. After I worked it through my hair from root to tip, I put on a shower cap and let the clay sit for 30 mins. DO NOT let it dry! I felt a tingly feeling about 15-20 mins in.
The clay while I was mixing
- When I got ready to rinse, I dunked my hair in the sink and then made sure I rinsed the clay thoroughly. I've read people say they have a gritty feel after rinsing but I didn't(guess I rinsed it all out). I did however notice a difference in my texture for the better =) My hair was manageable and easy to comb through.
-After rinsing I did a co-wash with V05 herbal escape and rinsed. I then applied Lustrasilk Shea Butter cholesterol plus, unrefined shea butter to my ends, did about 10 two strand twists, put on my satin bonnet and called it a night!
I did the face treatment this morning and enjoyed those benefits as well!
Here are my hair results:
